Karoline wrote the card

This is a postcard of Princess Karoline zur Lippe, eldest daughter of Leopold IV, Prince of Lippe, and his first wife, Princess Bertha of Hesse-Philippssthal-Barchfeld (1874-1919).

Princess Karoline Auguste Adelheid Mathilde Luise Pauline was born on August 5, 1905.  She married on September 29, 1932 at Detmold to Hans Graf von Kanitz,  Karoline died on October 12, 2001.

Her younger half-brother, Armin, is the present head of the house.

This postcard was sent written on June 19, 1921, and mailed on June 20.

The card was written by Princess Karoline zur Lippe, who was known as Lilli.  A nice card to add to my collection.

According to my notes Karoline was called Lilly.

I wonder if they had their own menagerie of animals. Here in NY, if I got to a state park and try to get close to a doe or a buck they scamper away and are very timid. Then again, in the North East, deers can carry Lyme disease ticks, so probably better that I could never get as close as this little princess.
