George and Mary celebrate 40th anniversary

July 6, 1933

King George V and Queen Mary are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. It was a quiet celebration at Buckingham Palace following a lunch aboard the Royal Train "returning from a visit to Chatsworth," according to the New York Times.
No special celebrations were planned although the "royal servants drank to the health of the King and Queen in champagne."
